Charity Right provides daily school meals for children who live in some of the poorest areas around the world, providing meals to Eritrean, Rohingya and Uyghur refugees, slum children in Dhaka and malnourished children in Thar.

Since 2016 Charity Right have provided over 40 million meals in 7 countries. The school meals they provide allow children to grow healthy with enough energy to focus on their studies.

And with one less mouth to feed, families can finally afford to send them to school, giving students the opportunity to rise from poverty.

Ramadan is a blessed time to reflect on the blessings Allah (SWT) has bestowed upon us. But while we enjoy our Iftar, spare a thought to those who have no choice but to fast all year.

In the Qur’an in Surah Insaan, (76:8-11) it speaks about the reward of feeding poor people for the sake of Allah:

‘And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to the Miskîn (the poor), the orphan, and the captive.

(Saying): “We feed you seeking Allâh’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.

“Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislike to it).”

So Allâh saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadrah (a light of beauty) and joy.

Which of us does not need to be saved from the evil of the Day of Judgement? Which of us does not need this light and joy on the Day of Judgement?

Feeding the poor for the sake of Allah is one way to gain these rewards referred to in this surah.

The virtue of feeding the poor is also highlighted in the following ahadeeth:

1. Suhayb ibn Sinan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best of you are those who feed others.

Source: Musnad Aḥmad 23926.

Grade: Sahih li ghayrihi (authentic due to external evidence) according to Al-Albani.

2. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives charity equal to a date from good (halal) earnings – for Allaah does not accept anything but that which is good – Allaah will take it in His right hand and tend it for the one who gave it as any one of you tends his foal, until it becomes like a mountain.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1344; Muslim, 1014.

3. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5073; Muslim, 993.

4. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not know that My servant was sick and you did not visit him, and had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food but you did not feed Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not know that My servant asked you for food but you did not feed him, and had you fed him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for drink but you did not provide for Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I give You drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: My servant asked you for a drink but you did not provide for him, and had you given it to him you would have found Me with him.”

By donating, you reap the multitude of blessings from Ramadan today, but also start a legacy that will reward you for years to come.

If you have not yet set up automatic donations for the last 10 nights of Ramadan you can now also set them up on this page to maximise the rewards during Laylatul Qadr in sha Allah, (a night which is better than a thousand months.)

How can you help?

As a father of two young children and having worked with young people in the Education sector in East London for the last 15 years as well as in the Middle East for a year, when I heard about the work Charity Right are doing I felt I needed to help out in whatever little way I can. Living in the West we do not understand the value of our daily meals until we hear about the suffering of poor people in third world countries.

This Ramadan I have made the intention to raise enough money to feed 30 children for one whole year (£4,500). I cannot do this alone. To achieve this I need 30 people to support me by donating £150 each or 60 people to pledge £75 each. This works out to just £13 a month! Most of us living in the UK can easily spend this much on a meal for 2 but £13 a month can feed a child in a poor country for an entire month. If you are unable to donate any of these amounts then please feel free to donate whatever little you are able to. In sha Allah you will be rewarded for whatever you are able to donate.

If you still have any Zakat to pay this Ramadan you can donate your Zakat towards this campaign as it is Zakat Eligible.

£13 = a month of school meals for one child

£75 = six months of school meals for one child

£150 = an entire year of school meals for one child

£750 = an entire year of school meals for five children

Please give a donation to support my campaign.
Please donate as much as you can from your Zakat and Sadaqah.
May Allah (swt) accept all our efforts and Charity. Ameen!
