Providing meals for children learning Quran in Sudan

إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, among the good deeds that will join a believer after his death are these: knowledge which he taught and spread, a righteous child he leaves behind, a copy of the Quran he leaves for inheritance, a mosque he has built, a house he built for travelers, a well he has dug, and charity distributed from his wealth while he was alive and well. These deeds will join him after his death.”

Our brother Bashir Said Mohamed has returned to his lord on the 22nd of April 2021 on the second week of Ramadan. Bashir was a brother who had the cleanest heart. He always put everyone before him and was known to always take care of his family. 

May Allah accept all his worship, be pleased with him and widen his grave. May He give him the highest rank of Jannah and have mercy on his soul. As a community who have cherished Bashir and watched him grow, we want to carry on his legacy by providing meals to five students learning Quran from impoverished backgrounds in Sudan for an entire year.

Many of these students are refugees or orphans, they therefore have no other means to sustain themselves and the meals they receive will literally be a lifeline. This school is their haven, they learn, eat and sleep here.

These meals will give them the necessary nutrition they need to allow them to complete their Quranic learning comfortably throughout the day. It’ll also give them a better chance to break out of poverty later in life as education is often the key to breaking the shackles of cyclical poverty.

What your support will go towards  

Before Charity Right intervened, these students were eating flour mixed with boiling water. Now, they’re receiving three nutritionally balanced meals every day containing vegetables, lentils and bread.  

• £20 can provide a month of 3 daily meals for one Hifz student
• £120 can provide 6 months of 3 daily meals for one Hifz student
• £240 can provide a year of 3 daily meals for one Hifz student
• £480 can provide 2 Hifz students with regular meals for an entire year
• £960 can provide 4 children with regular meals for an entire year
• £1200 can provide 5 children with regular meals for an entire year
