It’s coming up to Eid Al-Adha and we’ve got a small ask… feed a child through your Qurbani.

Qurbani is the practice of sacrificing livestock and distributing a portion of meat to the poor and hungry. Also referred to as Udhiyya, Qurbani honours the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son out of sheer devotion and submission to Allah.

Where Does My Qurbani Go?

All Qurbani from Charity Right goes directly to feeding orphan households and the poorest families in Ethiopia and Malawi, including the students we provide school meals to, their families, as well as the wider community.

Not only are these families desperately hungry, but Qurbani will make their Eid Al-Adha even more special. For one day, they’ll have access to food on Eid Al-Adha and won’t need to worry where their next meal is coming from.

Why Malawi and Ethiopia?

Narrowing down where to distribute Qurbani is a challenge. After all, there are millions of poor families around the world.

The reason for our attention in Malawi and Ethiopia is that they’ve both experienced particular devastation in recent months.
70% of Malawi already live beneath the poverty line, but the country has been pushed to breaking point when Storm Freddy struck in March. It became the world’s longest lasting storm, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake as it destroyed houses and buried people in mud.

In Ethiopia, 78% of the population earn less than $2 a day, but after a seven-year drought, the cost of food has pushed over 20 million into devastating food insecurity.

What Does My Qurbani Include?

A Qurbani donation for each person costs £75 for a small animal, either a goat or sheep.

No need to sacrifice the animal yourself – the donation covers everything with no hidden fees. It includes the cost of the animal as well as its slaughter and butchering, transportation, storage, selection of beneficiaries and distribution.

Plus, we’ll even send you updates and a picture of the family receiving your Qurbani so you know the impact it has!

Time is ticking and Eid Al-Adha is fast approaching, so are you ready to donate your Qurbani?
