The 2020s has been an interesting decade to say the least. For many of us, 2023 has been the first year in a while that we’ve had some stability – but for Charity Right, it was another year brimming with highlights and successes.

Let’s look back at some of our achievements from 2023 and see how far we’ve come…

 

Food by Numbers

One of our biggest successes in 2023 was the sheer volume of meals we delivered and children we were able to feed.

We provided over 4 million school meals across the year to more than 18,000 children per school day. 

 

Fundraising Frenzy

The fundraising we saw this year was nothing short of spectacular!

During Ramadan, Team365 went above and beyond to raise £615,114 for approximately 1,230,230 meals. Then, just a few days later, we raised another £73,137 from the London Marathon, which translates to roughly another 146,273 school meals.

Our team of champion fundraisers didn’t stop after April, though. Later in the year, our Malawi deployment raised £35,923.80 (or 71,847 meals), while our Snowdon hike raised an inspiring total of over £150,000 for the children of Palestine.

Beautiful Beginnings

2023 also marked a new chapter for Charity Right when Asim Lone was appointed as our new CEO. Asim’s already had two decades of experience in the Muslim charity sector, and while the aims and ethos of Charity Right have stayed the same, he has embraced technology to reach new audiences and deliver even more school meals.

In fact, he’s already overseen the start of several partnerships, including with Sunna Supplements, Givematch and the School Meals Coalition.

 

Bigger Programmes & More Campaigns

We also went further by expanding and launching more programmes. 2023 saw us expand our school meals and Hifz programmes Istanbul to serve Uyghur refugees in Kayseri, Turkey too.

That’s not all, though!

We also expanded Health, Hifz and Happiness, our Hifz sponsorship programme, to Ethiopia and Turkey as well.

On top of that, we provided Qurbani to families in Malawi and Ethiopia, launched an emergency response campaign to fund aid in Gaza and kicked off Food Fridays for hassle-free weekly donations.

 

Here’s to 2024!

As we step into 2024, we at Charity Right are filled with hope and optimism. The successes from 2023 aren’t just numbers or events – they each represent lives touched, futures brightened and a world made just a little bit better.
