Charity Right is proud to partner with the School Meals Coalition.

Launched during the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, this initiative unites ninety-four countries and over a hundred partners dedicated to enhancing and expanding school meal programmes worldwide.

Our collective goal: to ensure no child goes hungry by 2030.

Restoring Records

The School Meals Coalition emerged in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The world reached a milestone in early 2020, delivering school meals to a record 388 million children – half the world’s primary school population. In Africa alone, the number of meals provided nearly doubled from 38.4 million in 2013 to 65.4 million.

We were all set to go further and deliver meals to the remaining 73 million children across sixty countries… then the pandemic began.

School closures deprived millions of children of the daily nutrition they relied on, impacting their health, education and local economies.

Going Further Together

The World Food Programme initiated the School Meals Coalition in 2021, aiming to restore school meal programmes affected by the pandemic and take them further than ever.

The coalition’s shared commitment focuses on two primary objectives: to reach the most vulnerable children in low and lower-middle-income countries, and to enhance the quality and efficiency of school meal programmes.

That’s because a school meal is more than just food; school meals support local agriculture, promote gender equality, and even yield impressive societal returns. Did you know that every dollar invested in school meals generates $9 in societal benefits?

Charity Right is thrilled to be joining the coalition. Alongside our esteemed partners, we’re ready to work towards a world free of hunger, where every child has access to daily nutritious school meals and a bright future.
