I am participating in The Ramadan Challenge with Charity Right.

InshaAllah, I'm planning to undertake daily exercises and activities throughout the Blessed month of Ramadhan (which may include cycling, running and walking) - all whilst raising money for the less fortunate.

By taking part, I'll be joining a global community taking a step to a healthier and more active Ramadan.

But it's not just about personal goals - I'm also fundraising to support a special cause that's important to me.

  • All donations are going towards our school meals programme and will be distributed between the following countries: Sudan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Malawi and Yemen.

Although I've always enjoyed playing sports, one thing I've become more focused upon since lockdowns and turning 50 some years ago, is the importance of our health (physical & mental) and recognising how good health can assignment our spiritual health.

Ramadan used to be an excuse for me for a sedentary month due to increased Ibadah, Tarawih, work, excess food and broken sleep. Paradoxically, I would invariably put on weight. Hence, in the last few years I've tried to incorporate exercise (usually gentle cycling pre-iftar) into my Ramadhan routine. InshaAllah this Ramadhan, I'm aiming to incorporate more variety (or at least) daily exercises into my day a part of my Ibadah schedule.

Hence, this Ramadan, I want us all to try and get up and get moving - even small steps. I’ve chosen daily activities which will be cycling 20-30K, or running 2 - 5K or walking 3 - 5K (or 30 minutes mobility / flexibility on rain days) InshaAllah.

But it's not just about personal goals - I'm also fundraising to support a special cause that's important to me. The funds raised through The Ramadan Challenge will go towards providing school meals for children in Sudan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Malawi and Yemen InshaAllah.

This is a critical need, as it not only provides them with the sustenance they need to stay healthy, but it also incentivises parents to send their children to school, giving them a chance to escape the cycle of poverty.

Remember your donation can make a big impact:

£13 = one child is fed for an entire month!

£75 = one child is fed for 6 months!

£150 = one child is fed for 1 whole year!

£300 = 2 children supported with regular meals for 1 whole year!

Thank you for your support. Let's make The Ramadan Challenge a massive success!
